Home

We could use this as a static home page.

The content could be similar to what’s currently on the About page, or could be a brief bulleted overview of services provided or upcoming courses, along with calls to action.

We can get rid of the title on this page, and could bring the blog post summaries back to this page if we ever have an active, frequently updated, blog. (Or we could go for a combination of blog summaries and static elements.)

Until we do have a relatively active blog, we can have a separate News page to show the summaries of recent posts, and we can have a list of recent posts in the sidebar.

For now, until we decide the initial content of this home page, let’s try making the About Us page (and its children) a child of this home page, in order to shorten the main navbar. We could do the same for Testimonials.

Not sure yet how to shorten further. Could we perhaps have Training as a parent of Facilitation as well as of Development? If so, we could maybe shorten the main site structure (and so navbar) to:

  • Home
  • Training
  • Qualifications
  • Psychometrics
  • Contact (or Booking?)

If we need to shorten the main navbar further, we could make Qualifications a child of Training. We could also move Contact to the sidebar and put News in the main navbar once we actually have posts/announcements/articles for people to read. We might then have something like this:

  • Home
  • Training
  • Psychometrics
  • News

Any items we feel are a bit hidden as children could be highlighted by being featured in other menus in sidebar and/or footer.

The original site structure was like this:

We’re currently trying out a structure that’s more like this:

We might try out something more like this:

That would give us the top level we mentioned earlier, that looks short and simple:

  • Home
  • Training
  • Psychometrics
  • News

or maybe:

  • Home
  • Training
  • Psychometrics
  • News
  • Book a course/find out more/take part

What we need to establish is whether it would still be informative enough, and would work well for users.
